UM LAMENTO NO SILÊNCIO: IDENTIDADE E MEMÓRIA LA COMPLAINTE DE LA NÉGRESSE AMBROISINE D’CHIMBO, DE FRANÇOISE LOE-MIE

Abstract

This article analyzes the novel La complainte de la négresse Ambroisine D’Chimbo (2013), by Françoise Loe-Mie, highlighting how the work reconfigures the historical narrative of slavery in French Guiana from a Black and feminine perspective. Through the journey of Ambroisine, an enslaved Black woman who experiences escape, resistance, and spirituality, the novel deconstructs the hegemonic historiographic narrative and proposes a poetics grounded in collective memory and ancestral strength. The narrative reconfigures the silence imposed by coloniality as a form of resistance and identity affirmation, placing Black subjectivity at the center of historical construction. The work thus reaffirms the role of literature as a space for reconstructing history and affirming Black subjectivities.
