CHRONICLE OF TESTIMONY IN “COMPANHEIRAS” BY ENEIDA DE MORAES

Abstract

This article intends to make a reading of the chronicle "As companheiras", of Eneida de Moraes identifying a testimonial character, in order to establish a parallel with the question of testimony in the literature. To do so, a brief introduction will be made to the chronic genre to make a dialogue with the issue of the decline of the narrative in Walter Benjamin and the concept of testimony from Seligmann-Silva, both in its original European perspective and in the studies developed in Latin America. Thus, it is assumed as a hypothesis that the chronicle "As companheiras" has elements of a testimonial literature, while narrating a memorialistic history of repression and violence against women during the authoritarian regime of the Estado Novo.
