Abstract

This article revisits the notions of productive consumption and the rural city from the work of geographer Milton Santos, based on three main objectives: to highlight the importance of these two notions for the understanding of brazilian urbanization; highlight the derivations that we promote from these two notions; emphasize the importance of the theoretical-conceptual and methodological body worked by Milton Santos. The methodology was structured based on the foundations of qualitative research for the construction of a critical analysis. We conclude that the work of Milton Santos still requires a lot of reflection and permanently instigates us to research and discovery, in addition to remaining current and powerful to explain the complexity of reality of Brazil and the contemporary world.
